The field of sport biomechanics utilizes the laws of physics to gain a better understanding of human movement and sport performance. The physical principles of momentum, motion, and resistance are central components of athletics. By studying an individual’s movement mechanics we can gain a better understanding of areas that can be modified in attempt to optimize their performance.
This program can assist you in developing proper form and function with a general fitness routine, help you decrease pain and risk of injury associated with an exercise program or sport, and optimize your mechanics and performance associated with your sport.
Each participant will be guided on proper jump and land mechanics, dynamic squat, sprint start & stop, change of direction, and pivot turns that are all essential components for contact and non-contact sports. Upper extremity shoulder mechanics, strength, and stability will be addressed for the throwing & hitting athlete (tennis, volleyball, baseball, etc.).
Session One: 90 minutes
- Strength and muscle balance
- Joint range of motion and stability
- Balance
